Sizzlin' Summer in Pre-K SPED

Pre-K SPED Student Wins Award for Excellence
Congratulations to Zoe M., from Christina M. Eve Elementary, for earning the Superintendent's 2009 Award of Excellence! This award, sponsored by the Superintendent's District Advisory Panel for Students with Disabilities and Parent to Parent of Miami, Inc., is for students with disabilities who have demonstrated outstanding achievement. Zoe was nominated by her teacher, Peggy Kinsora, SLP, from the Half Day Speech and Language program. Zoe received her award at a luncheon on May 21. We are proud of Zoe for representing all our Pre-K SPED Shining Stars!

Autism Speaks Fundraiser at Gloria Floyd Elementary
When teachers at Gloria Floyd Elementary, including our very own Kerrianne Perry from the Half Day Reverse Mainstream class, wanted to raise money for Autism Speaks, they got together to plan an exciting, glamorous event. And the first annual Gloria Floyd Elementary Fashion Show Extravaganza was born! Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in all grades, including Pre-K of course, strutted down the catwalk in outfits representing the following categories: Sports, Glitz and Glam, Career, and Accessories. The fashion show and sales of photos taken during the event helped the group raise $4000.00 for Autism Speaks!
